Oh, another one I hate.
"that smell makes me nauseous"
The smell itself is nauseous. It makes you nauseated.
I wouldn't have a problem with the idea of a lower class of people who lack the motivation or desire to improve their grammar (and by implication, their intelligence). However, this lower class of people is the one which is being supported by those of us who work for a living, and which is voting themselves benefits from my paycheck.
Until we can stop them from voting, we have a problem.
I will say this though, as a living language, usage and idiom will constantly modify the English language. Words that were commonplace just 200 years ago are no longer used, and words that meant one thing now mean another. From the second amendment:
Excellent point. A living language. But "this lower class of people"? I'd hesitate to assume someone is good simply because they remember all their grammar rules. Someone else might say "get a fuckin life".
I agree that our English language is everchanging and evolving. However, that doesn't mean we should sacrifice clarity and meaningful communication just because we can't be bothered.
For fhb ... I was a teacher, too. Part of my evaluation of my students was based upon their ability to answer questions. Of course, I taught them straightforward business English ... so they could use simple sentence structures, etc.
I was also brought up in Canada ... and it is far from being communist now. However, if there were subjects not taught in school, the appropriate recourse is to learn them outside school. Maybe that's being old-fashioned but I've sure learned more after school than I ever learned in school.
Finally ... if you sound stupid and your writing looks the same, I will judge you ... dyslexia or not.
George... Can't be bothered? What is this, a fucking job interview. Also, You teach your students to judge other people and categotize them like this? Nice.

"well regulated"
That's true... Well Regulated meant "well equipped" or "uniformly equipped" as in the "regular army."

Some interesting points ...
